Yes I considered those reasons when writing the article. But I have to disagree based on my experience. I have a sibling. We get on great but we live on the other side of the world from each other. My parents also live across the pond too. I also know plenty of people who are estranged from their siblings and parents in adult life. So, that wasn’t a solid enough reason for me to have another child.

I’ve also thought about ageing and what that would be like for my son. As much as I hope he would look out for me in old age I don’t wish for my health and aged care to be his responsibility.
